26.06 – 16.07.2014 – High Energy International Voluntary Camp (Hungary)
On July 17 early morning a bus with more than 40 young people from Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia, Ukraine, South Korea, Palestine, Greece, Croatia left the Creative Space Training Centre in Holloko, Hungary. That was the end of three intensive weeks of training and field work for over 55 participants from 12 countries as part of a short term EVS project financed by Youth in Action Programme.
The project is the fifth edition of the efforts spent both by Creative Space Non-Profit Kit. and Egyesek Youth Association in their work in Nograd region in Hungary. During the Camp we visited 5 villages in crews of 5 to 11 volunteers on a daily basis Monday through Friday. We reached more than 200 children considered with less opportunities, since Nograd region has very high rate of unemployment and explicit cases of social and ethnical segregation.
The highlight of the Camp was on Saturday 12 July when we had our final open event for dissemination of the results of the camp among different stakeholders – EVS volunteers, local youth, parents of local youth, local authorities, foreign ambassadors, social workers and youth workers. The event gathered more than 120 people in the premises of Creative Space Training Centre where everyone had the opportunity to learn more about the camp itself and about our volunteers – their personal history and background, as well as motivation and inspirations.
The dates of activities were June 26 – July 16.
The visited afterschool clubs of children with less opportunities where we held English speaking action based learning sessions are in Nagyloc, Varsany, Rimoc, Nogradszakal and Endrefalva.
